Allô à tous, nous voilà « live » de Las Vegas! (On prend un petit break, ça fait 2 jours qu’on marche sans arrêt…)

Hier était notre première journée de voyage. Nous nous avons dormi chez ma soeur Karine et sommes partis pour l’aéroport tôt (genre 4am!). Plusieurs heures plus tard — et quelques baggages en moins… mais c’est ok, ils sont venus les porter à notre hôtel le soir — nous arrivions au MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, où nous logeons pour 5 nuits.

La chambre est super bien. Nous sommes au 27e étage, vue sur le « Strip » — non pas du porno… c’est le nom courant du Las Vegas boulevard où tous les hôtels sont situés.

« Souper » au Rainforest Café — il est 4pm ici, mais 7pm pour nous avec le décalage. Show d’éclairs et tonnerre aux demi-heures dans le resto et animaux qui bougent… Burger guacamole pour moi, et crevettes au coconut pour Frank.

Promenade dans quelques hôtels par la suite. Le New York, New York en face de notre hôtel, et plusieurs autres incluant le Bellagio.

Le plafond du lobby du Bellagio est fait de méduses en verre… superbe!

Un peu avant le coucher de soleil (vers 6h30 ici), nous sommes entrés dans le « Paris ».

Nous sommes montés à la plateforme d’observation dans la tour Eiffel. Superbe vue pour le coucher de soleil.

(PS. Merci à Nicolas pour le prêt de sa lentille Wide Angle… elle fait la job pas mal!)

Aux demi-heures, le Bellagio, juste en face, fait un spectacle de fontaines, avec musique et lumières. Ça dure quelques minutes; c’était la musique du film Titanic (sans les paroles) quand nous l’avons vu — encore dans la tour Eiffel du Paris.

Retour à l’hôtel, ensuite. Retrouvailles avec nos baggages, et dodo à 10pm — mais il est 1am pour nous (journée de 27hres!) et nous nous sommes réveillés il y a plusieurs, plusieurs heures!

Aujourd’hui mardi, nous avons fait pleins d’autres trucs très marrants… mais ça va attendre un peu plus tard. Pour l’instant, notre petit break est fini, et nous allons essayer le casino, un peu. David Copperfield ce soir (w00t!) et Grand Canyon demain. On redonne des nouvelles quand ça adonnera! Ciao.

Hi all, here we are « live » from Las Vegas! (We’re taking a small break, we’ve been walking for 2 days non-stop…)

Yesterday was our first travel day. We slept at my sister Karine’s place and left for the airport early (4am!). Many hours later — and a few luggages short… but it’s alright, they delivered them to our hotel in the evening — we arrived at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, where we are staying for 5 nights.

The room is really nice. We are at the 27th floor, view on the Strip — no, not porn… it’s the common name for the Las Vegas boulevard where all the hotels are at.

« Dinner » at the Rainforest Cafe — it’s 4pm here, but it’s 7pm for us with the timezone difference. Lightning and thunder show in the restaurant and moving animals… Guacamole burger for me, coconut shrimp for Frank.

Stroll through a few hotels afterwards. The New York, New York in front of our hotel, and many others including the Bellagio.

The Bellagio lobby ceiling is made up of glass jelly fishes… beautiful!

A little before sunset (at 6:30pm here), we went in the « Paris ».

We went up to the Eiffel tower observation deck. Superb view of sunset.

Every half hour, the Bellagio, just out front, has a show of fountains, with music and lights. It lasts a few minutes; it was the Titanic movie’s music (without lyrics) when we saw it — still at the Eiffel tower observation deck.

Back at the hotel, then. Our luggage is back, and sleep at 10pm — but it’s 1am for us (a 27hrs day!) and we woke up many, many hours ago!

Today Tuesday, we did a bunch of other fun stuff… but that will wait for another post later. For now, our little break is over, and we will go try the casino a little. David Copperfield tonight (w00t!) and Grand Canyon tomorrow. We’ll be back with news when we have some time again! Ciao.
