June 24 is the St-Jean-Baptiste, which is our provincial holiday (which means a day off work, yay!). We have celebrated in 2 ways.
Evening of June 23 – Classic celebration
On Tuesday night, we fired up some fireworks at my parent’s place. It was Xavier’s first experience with fireworks. He loved the first one (a burning schoolhouse), jumped and ran at the second one (a noisy exploding one), refused any other, and eventually enjoyed the whole show from the safe cabin of grandpa’s pickup.

After the 2nd firework… « Another one, Xav? » « Hum, no no. I will play with my trucks. No firework. Not now. »
« Alright, close the door. We will watch it from here. We will be fine here. »
Then, we brought our kids back home 3 hours after their usual bedtime. Ick!
Still, great evening! Thanks to dad and mom for the celebration!
June 24 – National Park
We spent today at the « nearby » National Park with our friends Amélie and Nicolas. 4 adults to 2 toddlers was a good ratio for the time we spent at the waterfalls there.
I love the light in these pictures.
I had fun trying to photograph water sculptures.
Yup. We brought our toddlers there.
But Xavier loved sitting and splashing in the waterfalls.
This is my BFF Amé.
And her boyfriend Nic. They enjoy photography too.
After the falls, we spent some time on a small beach. It was about 145 degrees in the sun. The water was: FINE.
I usually tell Xavier not to do this at bath time. He loved the lake.
Orly loved her new friend, Mud.
Then we drove back home, had yummy BBQ, and tried to put our crazy tired kids to bed.

Nous avons célébré la St-Jean de 2 façons cette année.
Soirée du 23 juin – Célébration classique
Mardi soir, nous avons enflammé quelques feux d’artifices chez mes parents. C’était la première expérience de Xavier avec les feux d’artifices. Il a adoré le premier (une maisonnette/école qui brûle), a sursauté et est couru se cacher au deuxième (un pétard bruyant explosif), a refusé qu’on en allume d’autres, et a éventuellement apprécié le spectacle dans la cabine sécuritaire du camion de grand-papa.

Premier feu, apprécié de Xavier.
Après le 2e feu… « Un autre, Xav? » « Uh, non. Moi, je joue avec mes camions. Pas d’autre feu. Non. »
« D’accord, fermes la porte. Nous on regarde ici. On est corrects, ici. »
Ensuite, nous avons rapporté notre progéniture à la maison 3 heures après leur heure de dodo habituelle. Ick!
Super soirée, tout de même! Merci à papa et maman pour la célébration!
24 juin – Parc de la Mauricie
Nous avons passé la journée aujourd’hui au Parc de la Mauricie avec nos amis Amélie et Nicolas. 4 adultes pour 2 enfants, c’était un bon ratio pour le temps passé aux chutes d’eau là-bas.
J’adore la lumière dans ces photos.
Je me suis amusée à tenter de photographier des sculptures d’eau.
Ouaip. Nous avons emmené nos bambins ici.
Mais Xavier a adoré s’asseoir et s’éclabousser dans les chutes d’eau.

Et son copain Nic. Ils aiment faire de la photo, eux aussi.
Après les chutes, nous avons passé du temps sur une petite plage. Il faisait environ 145 degrés au soleil. L’eau était : SUPER.
Je préviens habituellement Xavier de ne pas faire ceci à l’heure du bain. Il a adoré le lac.
Orly a adoré sa nouvelle amie, la Boue.
Puis nous avons conduit jusqu’à la maison, avons mangé du bon BBQ avec du dessert au chocolat, et avons tenté de mettre nos enfants éperdûment épuisés au lit.
