Take me down to the river

As the grandson of two sailing lovers – mom’s parents are taking navigation lessons (my grandad used to be a sailman) and are hoping to buy a sailboat to take out to the sea in the next years – as their grandson, then, mom thought it was about time I saw a decent body of water. During today’s stroller ride, then, we walked down to the St.Lawrence river – the St.Pierre lake, in reality, which is a bay on the St.Lawrence, so let’s not split hairs.

About an hour and a half there and back, for the swish of waves, the glitter of the sun on the water and the river air. I thought it was pretty cool and thus raised my arms, flipped my hands, grinned and bent over my stroller’s cupholder to try to see everything.

Also, in response to (my auntie Karine’s) general request, new pictures of me have been added to my April album.

Bye bye!

Bye bye!

  1. The closest thing I can give my own boys is a 10-minute stroll down to the banks of the mighty Sturgeon River in our little city. It’s no St. Lawrence, but it is swelled with the spring runoff right now and might be waist deep for the next couple weeks! Kind of hard to sail on, though. Newspaper boats would be acceptable.

  2. Norah and I have strolled down to the Muddy Missouri on several occasions. It’s a tempermental body of water that far too often reeks of rot…but on most days is a slow, wide and majestic flow on its way to merge with the Mississippi just a few miles downstream. I wouldn’t really want to sail out there, though…it’s mainly barge traffic.

Cool, cool! Txs!

  4. The St.Lawrence isn’t without its amount of pollution, but it’s wide enough that it doesn’t show too much, heh. I think it’s possible to sail on it with a small boat, but the sort of boat my parents are hoping to sail would have to be anchored closer to sea, where the water’s deeper, I believe.
